With a population approaching 12 million residents and many important commercial districts, Mumbai can be found on the vast Salsette Island, on the western side of India. Mumbai features an impressive natural harbour area and a large national park, and is also home to the country's stock exchange and numerous major banks.

Previously known as the Sahar International Airport, Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (BOM) is the country's main gateway and amongst the busiest airports in the world. Located in the areas of both Sahar and Santacruz, this vast and spreading complex lies to the north of Mumbai.

The city of Mumbai is split into two main areas, with the southern region being often referred to as the 'Town'. This affluent district is an important area of commerce and contains many stunning Art Deco style structures and major offices. The many sights are centred around Nariman Point and also Dalal Street, where the stock market resides, amongst many tall skyscrapers and historical buildings.

Northern Mumbai is the other noteworthy region and is a fairly recent addition to the city. With many residential areas, shopping malls, entertainment venues, restaurants and clubs, this district is a modern area and full of energy.
